DJ 9-18-93

When you leave me,
I sleep on your side of the bed.
The smell of your hair on your pillow
impregnates my dreams
with delicious portraits of you.
Last night when you took me,
your tongue and hands were the fire
that singed my nightgown from my body
and left it smoldering, steaming on the floor,
next to the bed.
You kissed my first, second
and third degree yearning for you.
You caused me to wail in alarming convulsions.
And there you smiled, between my legs
with blood on your nose, unashamed
that you wanted more and you took it.
In the slickness of our sweet sweat and blood,
you did penetrate me and penetrate me,
and we swore to each other our love
over and again, like breathless Buddhist chanting
in bucking physical and vocal rhythm:
loving each other like animals
sacrificing themselves in one another's honor.
Oh, I do love you this morning,
as I sleep on your side of the bed
as I sleep on your side of the bed
and dream of you,
and wait for you,
to return.
